Tree Descriptions / Measures ...

Fiberglass material.

Gullet angles are 90º on weight bearing surfaces.

Twist (from front of seat area to front of gullet) are moderate -  good fits for Quarter Horse or similar horse builds.    Twist results in the angle of the gullet surface to rotate slightly outward & upward, thus appearing wider.

Gullet Width measures provided are at the gullets leading edge (top-most & front-most) of gullet opening.   Clearances are 3" (from bottom of swell to narrowest part of gullet opening).

Gullet widths available range from 6 1/2" to  7".   Different widths are appropriate for different breeds.  We have saddles to fit Quarter Horse, Thoroughbreds, & Arab cross-breeds.

Bar lengths are sized for Standard Quarter Horses.   The bars have a mild upward curve (back to front).

Tree Terminology:

"Gullet Width" - measured at top-most leading edge of weight bearing surface.

"Angle" - Angle of tree contact area measured at the front - from the below the swell center point to the gullet surface.

"Twist" - amount of curvature under the swell from front of seating area to gullet.

"Bar" - weight bearing surface along horses back under seat.  Bars connect Gullet/Swell structure at front of tree & to the Seat/Cantle structure at the rear of the tree.

Seat Sizing Guide ...

Western Saddle seat sizing is different from sizing for English Saddles.  Rider height has nothing to do with Western Saddle sizing.  The size of your seat and thighs which vary together is what matters.

Our sizing guide is based on your thigh circumference at the upper most part of your thigh.  You'll need to wrap a fabric tape or a piece of string around this portion of your thigh to measure.

One other factor to consider if you're at the borderline of a particular size is your personal preference for a tighter, snug fit -or- for a looser, relaxed fit.
